The Details
Porsche’s 992-generation 911 Sport Classic is a reverent homage to the marque’s golden era—blending the visual language of the 1970s with the performance, poise, and refinement of its most modern turbocharged platform. First introduced as part of the ultra-limited “Heritage Design” collection, just 1,250 examples of the Sport Classic were produced worldwide, each a carefully curated celebration of Porsche’s past, present, and future.
Underneath its ducktail spoiler and widebody shell lies the heart of a 911 Turbo—literally. The Sport Classic borrows its 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six from the Turbo S, tuned here to produce 543 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. But unlike the Turbo, power is routed exclusively to the rear wheels through a 7-speed manual transmission, making it the most powerful RWD manual 911 Porsche has ever built. Combined with rear-axle steering, active suspension, and bespoke tuning, the Sport Classic delivers a driving experience that is both ferocious and delightfully analog.
Visually, the Sport Classic trades flash for elegance. From its double-bubble roof to its Fuchs-style wheels and Porsche script decals, it channels the subtle charisma of the 1973 Carrera RS with remarkable restraint. Inside, the car is fitted with Heritage Design interior trim: semi-aniline leather in Classic Cognac, black accents, and signature Pepita (houndstooth) seat inserts that feel as though they’ve been lifted from the Recaros of a ‘70s RSR.
This 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a low-mileage example, showing fewer than 1,400 miles from new. Finished in Paint-to-Sample green over a tan and houndstooth interior, it wears one of the most sought-after color combinations available, with the metallic green lending a period-correct but deeply distinctive tone to the car’s silhouette. A serialized dash badge, gold badging, and subtle exterior striping mark it out further as part of Porsche’s ultra-exclusive Heritage series.
Like the 997 Sport Classic that preceded it—and the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 that inspired both—this is a model destined for long-term collectibility. But unlike many of its contemporaries, the 992 Sport Classic is also a driver's car through and through: rear-drive, manual, and turbocharged in all the right ways. This example, beautifully specified and nearly new, offers a rare chance to own what may be the most balanced—and most beautiful—modern 911 Porsche has ever built.
